Summer Days

Last Friday, Grandma invited us over to their pool for swimming and lunch. The water felt great in the 90 degree temps and high humidity...the perfect day to be swimming! Their pool has a waterfall that the boys enjoyed floating behind. We've been to the kiddie pool in their neighborhood, which has a mushroom and other water spickets that squirt water, and Nathan has recently discovered that he likes the feel of water squirting on his head. So, He decided that he enjoyed sticking his head under the waterfall at Grandpa and Grandma's pool too. This little stunt made me nervous, until I realized that he came through the waterfall laughing! Then of course, Seth had to try it too...
Afterwards, Grandma made us a lunch that was enjoyed by all hungry swimmers. Here are some pictures of our day at Grandma's!

Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!!!

The boys absolutely LOVE all things NASCAR. Papa took us to Hendrick Motorsports last weekend to see Jimmie Johnson's and Jeff Gordon's cars. While we were there, we also visited DEI next door so the boys could see Mark Martin and Junior's cars. They loved getting up close to the race cars, watching the mechanics build the cars in the shops, and looking at all the race paraphernalia. Here are some pictures of our outing. Papa loved showing them Jeff Gordon's race car that was displayed right inside the front door. At the gift shop, there was more to explore when Papa strapped them into a real life race car seat. Driving the car was so much fun! Papa bought them 2 race cars each and some stickers. With their cars never far away from them, I'm thinking that NASCAR is quickly going to replace John Deere. We topped off the day with lunch at Steak and Lube down the road :-)

Visiting Nana in the "Big City"

Now that the boys are older, it's much easier to take them to uptown Charlotte and take Nana out for lunch. It's been fun for the boys to see all the activity in the city and meet all of Nana's co-workers. We were in the big, big city a few days ago and had lunch across the street from where Nana works. Here's some pictures of our outing.

April....May....June.....

In March, we started teaching the boys the months of the year, so that they could get a sense of time. They were begging to go swimming, but we told them that they couldn't go until the end of May. They were counting down the days until April, then May, and then finally the end of May. We barely squeaked in a swim on May 31st, the boys' first time in the pool this year. They were so excited to be splashing around in the water with their noodles. Here they are getting ready to get into the chilly water. They swam for about an hour, and then afterwards, enjoyed some popsicles with Grandpa on the deck.

Poll Night

So, we took the boys to poll night at the race track with Nana and Papa! This was a special time, because 3 years ago, Jeff and I were at the race track with my parents and we had just told them that I was expecting. We didn't know we were having twins at the time, but we were joking around that we should bring our girl / boy back to the race track with Nana and Papa when they were old enough. Three years later...here we are. Nathan enjoyed some time sitting on Nana's lap. Seth liked moving from seat to seat between Papa and Jeff. It was so fun for them to watch their drivers go around the race track. Nathan was rooting for Ryan Newman and Seth was rooting for Jimmie Johnson. Here, Nathan zooms in for a closer look at Newman going around the track, while Jeff hands off his binoculars to Seth so that he can see Jimmie Johnson's car.

Double Imagination

Our boys were so excited about the NASCAR race that came to Charlotte a week ago. In preparation, they tipped over the wheelbarrow in the back yard and used it as a race car that they could both sit in. They even had their own little track that they were running around. To have that time to think, to imagine and just to play...it's fun to see what the boys will come up with together!
